Perched on an outcrop high above the River Teme; the ancestral home to some of the mightiest late mediaeval aristocratic families, acquired by the Mortimers in the early 14 th century then through dynastic marriages to the Dukes of York before being incorporated into the Crown by Edward IV. The castle is eevry bit as impressive as the better known Kenilworth both for the fortification and the luxurious living quarters.
