A strange place - an English Heritage property with grossly over-priced entry fees for non-members. The Hall dates from the early 19th century, as a replacement for Belsay Castle, now in ruins in the grounds, and abandoned in the 1970s because of dry rot. Perhaps a diverting visit when the gardes are in gloom but not on a miserable day in October.
