A return visit to Conwy after a 5 year absence. I had never explored the town before and so had never discovered what a magificent monument it is to Edward I and his determination to crush the Welsh. The town walls are superbly maintained and accessible for most of the length, giving truly superb views over the town, and views of the castle and the River Conwy Estuary. With a little imagination you can begin to appreciate what living in a walled town must have been like. The castle itself dominates its environment like nowhere else.
