Scanned slides from my first visit to Egypt in February 1985. First Cairo and the early dynastic period at Giza and Saqqara followed by an overnight train to Luxor and the fun way to Aswan - 3 days and 2 nights on a felucca before another overnight train back to Cairo and the journey home.

I remember being desparately disappointed with the photos because so many were badly overexposed. But I certainly caught the bug for Egypt, not the Cairo Quickstep, but a fascination with the country and its history.

It is supposed to be the case that anyone who drinks from the Nile is destined to return; we certainly did that while travelling the adveturous way from Luxor to Aswan, on the deck of a felucca.
