My secnd visit to Nepal, this time as the starting point for an overland journey to Lhasa. Even in 1990 Nepal was still a bit exotic, among the bottom 5 of poorest states in the world, but nonethess with a ruling absolute monarchy revered by the populace as demi-gods. A Maoist insurrection was raging in parts of the country and was ultimatley successful leading to the exile of the royal family.
Before looking at the photos please be aware that some might be regarded in some spheres as culturally insensitive. Others might be regarded as poverty porn. I do not share those views.
