The average tourist spends about 2 hours in the Cairo Museum and sees little beyond the Tutankhamun exhibition( and the display of mummies if the political climate allows). A week would not be enough to view all the exhibits properly which could fill ten museums of international quality if only they were exhibited properly in good lighting and with space to vew. A new museum is under construction - it cannot fail to be better.

In 1989 cameras were still allowed - no flash - for a pitifully small charge. Doing the exhibits justice though is another matter; they are appallingly displayed.
