Scanned slides, again not of the greatest quality, from another overland trip on the back of a Bedford truck, supposedly from Entebbe in Uganda, to Zaire via the highlands of Uganda and on to the Serengetti via Lake Victoria before visiting the Ngorongoro Crater on the way back to Nairobi. This was the first trip on which I kept a detailed diary, painstakingly typed each day on a Psion 3.
The trip did not start well when Kenya Airways bumped me off the connecting flight to Entebbe and I had to spend a night in Nairobi before flying on the next day by which time the rest of the group had moved on. A hair-raisng drive of 270 km in 3 1/2 hours by matatu in total darkness on appalling roads surrounded by people speaking languages I did not understand with music playing at deafening levels, as only Africans can do, took me to Mbarara and a furher taxi drive befor emeeting the group very late into the night.
What a start.
