Chimaera: Gas seeps from the earth and bursts into flame on contact with the air, attributed by the
ancients to the breath of a mythical beast part lion, part goat, part dragon. The chimera was the son of Typhon, son of Gaia, the earth goddess. Typhon was so frightening that Zeus set him on fire and buried him alive under mount Aetna thereby creating the volcano. Chimaera was killed by the hero Bellerophon who mounted the winged horse Pegasus and threw lead into his mouth casing him to choke.
