The ruins of a richly-endowed, once-prosperous Augustinian foundation, near Shrewsbury. The abbey was founded in the early 12th century and dissolved in 1539. The only substantive remains are the Chapter House with richly decorated stonework and a wood roof dating from about 1500.

Little remains of the church but its outline is visible; in comparison with the rest of the abbey the church appears almost inconsequential, almost an afterthought. The remains of the Abbot's quarters give an indication of how far the monastic ideals had slipped by the time the abbey was dissolved.
