A small cathedral by Norman standards, founded in 1075 when the See founded by St Wilfrid at Selsey in 681, was moved to the old Roman city of Chichester. The Norman columns of the arcade and triforium. and teh early english gothic architecture of the clerstory and retroquire are delightful. To the north west is a free standing bell tower, "campamile", the only one in England. At the time I visited, a major retoration project was under way to replace the copper roof with lead: uninterrupted viwes of the whole cathedral were impossible.
