A very early morning start from the Lake Ndutu Serena Lodge for flights to Entebbe via Nairobi, a one hour light aircraft transfer to the Uganda, Congo, Rwanda border and a 2 hour road journey to the lodge in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
This was a return after a 20 year absence to see gorillas in Uganda, then at Mga Hinga, 30 miles to the south over dreadful roads. At $US600 for one hour with the gorillas it is certainly expensive but worth every penny for privilege. We should have been restricted to an approach no closer than 3 metres to protect the gorillas from our viruses but were in fact much closer; at one point a juvenile coming out of a bush brushed against my trousers - exilerating. Many of the photos are very similar - concentrate on the variety of facial expressions.
